Updates and security
Platform and plugin updates applied and tested, so known security holes don’t sit open.
Service 06 / 06
Monthly upkeep: updates, backups, fixes, content changes and new pages.
Sydney-based. Working Australia-wide.
Illustration: a care log sketches itself. A request to change Saturday opening hours arrives, the old hours are struck out and the new ones written in, the change is tested on phone and desktop, and it goes live with a note in the log beside nightly backups and updates.
Try itBreak something. Watch it get fixed.
All checks passing. Last backup 02:00.
Website care
A website needs looking after the way a shopfront does. Platforms update, forms break, content goes stale and something always needs changing. My website maintenance in Sydney is a monthly arrangement with the person who knows your site, or who will learn it properly if I didn’t build it.
You send requests, I handle them. Plans are quoted per site, because no two sites need the same thing.
How it fits together
Website support shouldn’t feel like opening a ticket and waiting. This is what happens to each request.
An email: change the opening hours, fix a form, add a page.
I make the change, or tell you honestly what it involves first.
Checked on phone and desktop before it goes live.
Published and recorded in your monthly check-in.
§ 01
Platform and plugin updates applied and tested, so known security holes don’t sit open.
Regular backups kept off the site itself, with a restore process I’ve checked works.
Broken forms, odd layouts and slow pages found and fixed.
New text, photos, opening hours and products, sorted for you.
Service pages, landing pages and new sections, built in the site’s style.
A short note on what I did, what I noticed and what I’d do next.
§ 02
I reply to every request promptly and say how long a change will take before I start. Anything that stops you taking enquiries or orders, like a site that’s down or a form that’s stopped sending, goes to the front of the queue.
The details are written into your plan, so you know what to expect.
§ 03
I look after sites other people built too. I begin with a short audit: what the site runs on, how it’s hosted, what’s out of date, what’s at risk and whether you control your own accounts.
Then I tell you what I found in plain English, and quote any fixes separately from the monthly plan. If I can’t responsibly look after a site, I’ll tell you that instead of taking the money.
§ 04
What a site needs depends on what it runs on, how often it changes and what it earns for you. A brochure site that rarely changes needs less than a store taking orders every day.
I quote a monthly plan for each site after the audit. It’s agreed before we start and written down. Hosting and tools are paid directly by you, and I explain each one upfront.
Problem, then fix
The problem
You’re scared to update the site in case it breaks.
What I’d do
Updates applied and tested by someone who’ll fix it if anything goes wrong.
The problem
A simple change takes weeks because nobody owns the site.
What I’d do
One person who knows the site and answers your request.
The problem
Nobody knows when the last backup was taken.
What I’d do
Regular backups kept off the site, and a note each month saying so.
A one-off fix solves today’s problem. Website care means someone is keeping an eye on updates, backups and small changes every month, so problems are caught early and requests don’t wait in a queue.
Yes, after a short audit. I’ll tell you what I found and whether I can look after it responsibly.
It’s quoted per site after the audit, so you pay for what your site actually needs. Hosting and tools are paid directly by you and explained upfront.
A site that’s down, or a form that’s stopped sending, is treated as urgent. I drop other work and look at it first.
Small content changes and fixes are covered up to the amount agreed in your plan. Larger work, like a new section or a redesign, is quoted separately.
