Who I am
This website is run by Kagan Powell, a sole trader based in Edgecliff, Sydney, NSW (ABN 80 925 024 369). In this policy, “I” and “me” mean Kagan Powell. You can contact me at kagan@kaganpowell.com.au.
I aim to handle personal information carefully and in line with Australian privacy law, including the Australian Privacy Principles.
What I collect
When you send an enquiry through the form on this site, I collect:
- your name and email address
- anything else you choose to give me, such as a phone number, business name or website
- what you’d like help with, and the details you write about your project, including the budget range and timing you pick
- the page you were on when you sent it, and the page you came from
If you email me directly, I keep that email and your reply address.
When you simply visit the site, the servers that deliver it record routine technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages requested. I don’t collect anything else about you unless you give it to me.
Why I collect it
- to reply to your enquiry and, if you’d like one, prepare a quote
- to send you a confirmation that your enquiry arrived
- to deliver the work, if you hire me
- to keep the site working, secure and free of spam (a spam check may run when you submit the form)
- to understand which pages are useful, so I can improve them
I don’t use your details for anything unrelated, and I won’t add you to a mailing list unless you ask me to.
How it’s stored
When you send an enquiry, it’s received through Netlify, which hosts this site and processes its forms, and I’m notified by email. Netlify handles the data on my behalf and has its own privacy policy. If I change how enquiries are handled, I’ll update this page.
Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States.
Who sees it
I never sell your information, and I don’t rent or trade it. I share it only with the service providers above so that the site and form work, and where the law requires me to.
If we work together, I may also use the details you give me in tools needed for the job, such as a project or invoicing system. I’ll tell you before I do anything beyond that.
Analytics and cookies
This site doesn’t currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If I add analytics later, such as Google Analytics, to understand which pages are visited and what devices are used, I’ll update this page first. I’d look at the results in aggregate and wouldn’t use them to identify you personally.
You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.
How long I keep it
I keep an enquiry for as long as I need it to reply and, if we work together, to run the project and meet record-keeping obligations such as tax records. If an enquiry goes nowhere, I delete it when it’s no longer useful. You can ask me to delete it sooner.
Access, correction and deletion
You can ask me for a copy of the personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email kagan@kaganpowell.com.au and tell me what you’d like.
I’ll respond promptly. I may need to confirm who you are first. In rare cases I can’t delete something, for example if I have to keep a record for tax or legal reasons, and if so I’ll tell you why.
Security
I take reasonable steps to protect your information, including using reputable providers and limiting who has access. No system is completely secure, so I can’t guarantee it, but I’ll tell you promptly if something goes wrong that affects you.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, tell me first and I’ll try to put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
If I change this policy, I’ll update the date at the top of the page. This version was last updated on 8 October 2026.
